Dr Thomas Newe is a Senior Lecturer in Computer Engineering in the Department of Electronic & Computer Engineering at The University of Limerick, is a funded investigator in three SFI Centres(Lero-Software Research Centre, Confirm-Smart Manufacturing Centre, and MaREI-Marine and Renewable Energy Research Centre), and he is a Board Member of Cyber Ireland (www.cyberireland.ie), Ireland’s Cyber Security Cluster. He holds a B.Eng. in Computer Engineering, a Masters in Engineering in Security Protocol Design and a PhD in Formal Logics for Security Protocol Verification. He has been a University of Limerick faculty member since 1994. His research interest includes many topics under the general areas of data security for Wireless Sensor Networks and the Internet of Things. He has graduated a number of PhD students in the broad area of network and data security and his students are funded from a variety of sources including: EU, SFI, IRC, Internationally and industrially funded.
