More than 200 delegates are registered to attend an industry day at Lero, one of the world’s leading software research centres at the University of Limerick, to discuss topics ranging from the engineering behind trustworthy AI-enabled systems to cybersecurity and autonomous systems.
Lero’s director, Professor Lionel Briand, a global authority on responsible software engineering, will deliver the opening paper on Trustworthy AI-enabled systems next Wednesday, April 16, at Kemmy Business School at the University of Limerick, which is hosting the Lero Industry Day 2025.
The chair of Lero’s Governance Committee, Aongus Hegarty, said the Lero Industry Day 2025 reflects the best of what Ireland offers – world-class research, deep collaboration between industry and academia, and a shared commitment to solving real-world challenges through software innovation.
“Events like this are essential to shaping the future of Ireland’s digital economy, and I’m proud to support Lero’s role in driving that transformation,” he added.
During the event, talks and panel discussions will be led by industry and academic experts in their fields. There will also be a keynote address from the Chair of Ireland’s AI Council and Ireland’s AI Ambassador, Dr Patricia Scanlon, and a keynote event with Leo Clancy, CEO of EI Electronics Ltd and former CEO of Enterprise Ireland, in conversation with Aongus Hegarty, former President of Dell International Markets.
Lero general manager Joe Gibbs said they are thrilled with the calibre of speakers and delegates who have signed up for the much-anticipated event and disclosed that a few places are still available at the limited-capacity gathering.
“Lero has established itself as a leader in international research, proudly ranking second in the world for citations among comparable software centres. Uniquely positioned to enhance Ireland’s vibrant software and technology ecosystem, our 2025 Industry Day offers an unparalleled opportunity for industry leaders to network and collaborate. Don’t miss this chance to connect with the best in the field and drive innovation forward,” added Mr. Gibbs.
Attendees will also have an opportunity to visit the Lero eSports and Human Performance Lab, led by Dr Mark Campbell, and engage with UL's revolutionary Immersive Software Engineering Team, led by Dr Stephen Kinsella.
Delegates will also experience Lero’s advancements in connected health, autonomous vehicles, smart communities, agritech, fintech, and govtech.
