Dr Seamus Dowling is programme chair and lecturer in cybersecurity at GMIT.  He is also a Fulbright Ireland TechImpact awardee for 2021/22 where he will extend his existing research, using machine learning to improve the efficacy of Internet-of-Things cybersecurity, in the Data Privacy and Security lab at the University of Texas Dallas. He has worked in the public and private sectors in IT administration and management roles, including company start-ups.  His PhD in Engineering from National University of Ireland Galway and MSc in Computing, concentrated on capturing DDoS attacks and increasing interactions with malware using machine learning.
