Dr Meghana Kshirsagar is a Computational Scientist and Researcher working in interdisciplinary research areas such as Semiconductor Design, Healthcare, Transportation. She has been affiliated with Lero since Sept 2019 as a Postdoctoral Researcher with the Biocomputing and Developmental Systems Research group on the SFI funded project “Automatic Design of Digital Circuits”. Simultaneously, she co-supervised PhD and MSc students alongside her supervisor, Prof. Conor Ryan. Her research interests are Grammatical Evolution, Data Mining, Machine learning, Artificial Intelligence, Blockchains, Algorithms.
She was affiliated with the Government College of Engineering, Aurangabad, India, where she held a permanent position for twenty years as Assistant and Associate Professor, teaching and supervising undergraduate and graduate students in the Computer Science and Engineering Department.
She leads two work packages in “Automatic Design of Digital Circuits”. Meghana has designed approaches to obtain minimal test suites for behavioural testing of digital circuits, novel algorithms such as embedding hierarchy within multi-objective optimisation, automated feature selection using grammatical evolution etc.
In her other ongoing work, she has developed a blockchain network, IntelliMedChain, for facilitating stakeholder communications in the healthcare industry. In Intelligent Transportation System, she has applied computer vision algorithms for vehicle detection and classification, and proposed algorithms for congestion control such as cost pricing models, vehicle rerouting systems etc.
“Women and girls can drive STEM innovations by their inherent qualities -
Creativity, Resilience and Conscientiousness.”.
Meghana actively encourages female participation in her research works resulting in opportunities for many. In Aug 2021, she organised an international hackathon, “Evathon”, that had awards for teams with all girls.
During her academic tenure, she was awarded for presenting the success story of female students of her alma mater. She was felicitated for her mentoring efforts resulting in successes in national hackathons.
