Professor Mike Hinchey , Director of Lero, the Irish Software Engineering Research Centre at UL has recently been elected a member of Academy of Europe, a cross-Europe academy of high achieving academics.  Professor Hinchey is the first UL faculty member to be accorded this honour and is one of the academy’s 10 youngest members.

Professor Hinchey, as Vice President of the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP), founded in 1960 under the auspices of UNESCO — opened the IFIP World CIO Forum in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province, China on 11th October.   He was given a reception by the Governor of Shaanxi Province and together with the Minister for Industry and Information Technology presented awards to the top 100 CIOs in China as selected by the China CIO Union.

New book: Autonomy Requirements Engineering for Space Missions, by Emil Vassev (Lero) and Mike Hinchey (Lero and CSIS), NASA Monographs in Systems and Software Engineering, Springer, London and New York, October 2014.    This book is based on research resulting from a Lero project funded by the European Space Agency.
