Lero researchers Dr Barry Sheehan and Dr Finbarr Murphy of the Emerging Risk Group at University of Limerick, in collaboration with Luxembourg firm Motion-S, have been selected by the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR) for funding under the Industrial Fellowships Programme.

The funding will support Leandro Masello, a data scientist with Motion-S, to undertake a PhD project in co-supervision between UL and industrial partner Motion-S. The project, entitled RADICAL, will explore novel risk assessment methods and actuarial pricing models for connected and autonomous vehicles.

The purpose of these fellowships is to foster cooperation between Luxembourg based companies active in research and development and public research institutions in Luxembourg and abroad. The scheme awards PhD and Postdoc grants to researchers who carry out their PhD and/or postdoc training in collaboration with a company in Luxembourg.
