The CodePlus programme rolled out nationwide by Lero won the Diversity & Inclusion Initiative of the Year award at the recent Women In STEM Awards.

CodePlus is a computer science engagement project that addresses gender imbalance in the field by engaging female students in computer science activities to help them make more informed choices about studying related courses and pursuing careers in the field.

CodePlus is a Computer Science (CS) engagement project that started at Trinity College Dublin in 2015. Since 2021, it has been run by the University of Limerick and the National University of Ireland Galway, greatly extending its reach.

The CodePlus programme has reached a significant number of female students across Ireland. Since 2017, over 2,700 students from 91 schools have participated in workshops, and over 10,000 students have attended the career talks delivered by the programme.
