Dr. Dallan Byrne is a Senior Research Fellow, Adjunct Lecturer of Engineering and a funded LERO Investigator. Dallan co-leads the Applied Agricultural Mechatronics group, alongside Professor Martin Glavin, within Electrical and Electronic Engineering discipline at the University of Galway.

Dallan has worked closely with Industry partners throughout his research career in Galway and his six years at the University of Bristol Communications Laboratory. His current work is in Agricultural Machinery Sensing, kickstarted through an Enterprise Ireland MCSA fellowship award in 2018.

His work is documented in peer-reviewed journal papers on topics ranging from agricultural load-sensing signal processing, radar imaging; inverse problems in microwave healthcare; Bayesian machine-learning methods for indoor localisation and behaviour context learning in an assisted-living environment.
